Galileo

Look up the work of Galileo.  Describe other observations he made.  Tell what his experiments led him to say about patterns in the sky.  You will receive extra credit for science if you comment on this blog!  Make sure to include your first name only.

Galileo made the telescope and looked at the sky.His envention enspired alot of people to look at the sky. Now alot of scicnetests are looking at the sky

  7. Galileo did not invent the telescope (I looked it up on many websites and it said he did not invent it), however, he made improvements to the telescope. He also observed the planet Saturn and at first mistook its rings for planets. Galileo observed the Milky Way too.

    Galileo Galilei

The motion of uniformly accelerated objects, taught in nearly all high school and introductory college physics courses, was studied by Galileo as the subject of kinematics

  11. The Galileo Project is a source of information on the life and work of Galileo Galilei (1564-1642). Our aim is to provide hypertextual information about Galileo and the science of his time to viewers of all ages and levels of expertise. What you read and see here is a beginning -- we will continue to add and update information as it becomes available. We solicit contributions from our colleagues in the history of science and comments on how we can improve the project from everyone, particularly suggestions on how to make this tool more useful in primary and secondary education.

  12. Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy. Galileo pioneered "experimental scientific method" and was the first to use a refracting telescope to make important astronomical discoveries.

  14. Galileo did NOT invent the telescope. He was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa,Italy. The science of astronomy took a huge leap forward in the first decade of the 1600s with the invention of the optical telescope and its use to study the night sky. Galileo Galilei did not invent the telescope but was the first to use it systematically to observe celestial objects and record his discoveries. His book, Sidereus nuncius or The Starry Messenger was first published in 1610 and made him famous. In it he reported on his observations of the Moon, Jupiter and the Milky Way.

  18. Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa,Italy in 1564. He died on 1642. He was physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher.
One of Galileo's most famous inventions was proof that the sun is the center of the solar system.
Galileo developed a telescope. He improved it over time from 3x to 30x. In 1597,Galileo invented a geometric compass, a scientific instrument with two arms that can be used for making calculations and geometric measurements. Galileo is also credited with inventing a microscope with 2 lenses at either end of a hollow tube. He built an early thermometer in 1590s.

  20. Johannes Lippershey from Holland invented the telescope.

  21. The basic tool that Galileo used was a crude refracting telescope. His initial version only magnified 8x but was soon refined to the 20x magnification he used for his observations for Sidereus nuncius. It had a convex objective lens and a concave eyepiece in a long tube. The main problem with his telescopes was their very narrow field of view, typically about half the width of the Moon.

  29. Galileo was born in Pisa Italy in 1564 and died in 1642. He was an Italian scientist. He studied and observed lunar craters, planets and stars. He did not invent the telescope, however, he did make his observation in space with a telescope. Galileo discovered the four moons revolving around Jupiter.

  30. Galileo was born in Italy on February 15,1564 and died January 8, 1642. He was known for improving the telescope and the military compass. He was also known for the confirmation of the phases of Venus and the discovery of four large satellites of Jupiter. He was responsible of the birth of modern science. Galileo was so smart that he was known for kinematics dynamics, telescopic observation, astronomy, and heliocentrism.

  31. Galileo Galilei's parents were Vincenzo Galilei and Guilia Ammannati. Vincenzo, who was born in Florence in 1520, was a teacher of music and a fine lute player. After studying music in Venice he carried out experiments on strings to support his musical theories. Guilia, who was born in Pescia, married Vincenzo in 1563 and they made their home in the countryside near Pisa. Galileo was their first child and spent his early years with his family in Pisa.
